sins of an uncle

my my it sure has been a long break.
many must have thought the kuali was broken or something and couldn't cook up some juicy food.
fear not for the kuali is back and its kickin'
so what are we serving today, a couplet from Shakespeare's HAMLET :

My words fly up, My thoughts remain below
Words without thoughts never to heaven go.

for those who aren't familiar with the tale of hamlet well....... I'm sorry I'm not gonna give u synopsis coz i can't do justice in summarizing a piece of such fine literally work. So do read it since its such a good tragic tale. Yes Shakespearean language can be a pain sometimes but get the ARDEN'S version which has the modern English in it too and u can enjoy it!!!

anyways that couplet basically was hamlet's uncle trying to repent to god but to no avail.
"My words fly up" his prayers are being said but "My thoughts remain below" his true sincerity in those words aren't there. Therefore, "Words without thoughts never to heaven go." his prayers of repenting for his sins go unanswered.

maybe to those who have or haven't read HAMLET there isn't much to shout about that couplet. but to me it strikes a cord in me. but thats personal and this ain't a personal blog. lol. well to all my other cooks at the kuali ( Dr. Raihanah mentioned the kuali seems almost like a restaurant) where have u all been?? I can't always be cooking stuff in the kuali. The patrons are gonna get bored eating the same food by the same chef. so come u guys lets get cookin'!!!!!

dont get sick of me please

hello again from me
i bet those who read this blog are wondering why is it only the same writer always
where my fellow ELIT peeps at?! *cue african american accent*
anyways thought i'd entertain u lot with another quote this time its from a song from Christina Aquilera's "Still Dirty" for those interested its form her Back to Basics album
what am i promoting her or something?
anyways back to the literarry part of it

"If i wanna be provocative that ain't a sin
Maybe you're not comfortable in your own skin".

one can look into these lines from the feminist criticism theory. what i think she's trying to say that there's nothing wrong being provocative and those condemning it are perhaps just too shy to be sexy or something. as long as u have more to offer than ur looks i suppose there's nothing wrong dressing provocatively. but whats misusing the concept is when u use ur looks and ur body to get what u want. when u let ur looks and body define who u are that is when u fall under the trap of objectification and being seen as a mere sex object with no opinions, thought, ideals or aspirations. it isnt' fair when women wear something provocative and are labeled as selling themselves in a sexual manner. as long as they are offering more than their bodies and are able to project themselves in an intelligent manner and let themselves be seen from who they are on the inside then it shouldnt matter what they're wearing on the outside. so we shouldnt stereotype a woman in a miniskirt as being a dimwit she perhaps could have the IQ higher than Einstein (alright a hyperbole lol)

so i suppose there's nothing wrong with potraying a sexual vibe but as long as u can supplement that with ur intelligence and wit and not let ur sexually define who u are 100%
thats all form me
any objections are most welcome
hope to see this blog alive and kickin'

miscellaneous quote

it sure has been a pretty long gap since the last post
well i suppose since no one else wants to fill that gap i suppose i will do the honour
i thought i'd share some quotes that mean something to me for thats why when i stumbled upon them i took the initiave to write them down

"The acceptance of grief and pain is necessary to the creation of a unique individual" - John Keats

I wholeheartedly agree with these lines because the more we suffer the more greater benefits we reap later on. Many of the famous writers out there suffered a lot and that gave birth to many famous literary works eg. Shakespear and John Keats himself
It also does not matter what type of suffering one goes through take Oprah Winfrey, she was the victim of child sexual abuse and now look where she is now. we need to accept the challenges that come our way and though we cant help but feel disheartened we should realise that those challenges shapes the unique individual in us.

THE BEGINNING

greetings everyone
i'm super excited to be posting here
first of i want to thank dr raihana for uniting the 1st years and 2nd years
honestly if she hadnt grouped us up i would still be going around ukm barely knowing who my other fellow BA coursemates are.

one of my all time favourite movies is "MOULIN ROUGE" the musical starring nicole kidman and ewan mcgregor ( both fabulous and insanely good looking actors)
it came out many years back but i just watched it again recently

to many this movie may seem like cliched. well it undeniably is but thats what makes it wonderful because all the cliches work. what i love about it is they take various famous songs and incorporate it into the story line. and the songs they use are rich with figurative language which is why i believe it makes the story more richer and it overshadows the cliches.

it has Julie Andrew's "The Sound of Music"
" The hills are alive with the sound of music
With songs they have sung for a thousand years"
Also Marilyn Monroe's "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend"
" Square cut or pear shaped
These rocks dont loose their shape"
we can see clear use of personification in these lines

i can elaborate on many more of the figurative language used in the movie but i'm sure you would rather see it yourself.
however these lines struck a cord in me, nicole kidman's character says it when she find out she has to end her relationship with ewan mcgregor's character

" If i should die in this moment I wouldnt fear, for i've never known completeness like being here"

it just shows how great her love is for him( yes corny mushy love like this is hard to find in reality)to me those lines represent how sublime loving her other half is and it makes her life complete that she doesnt mind dying right now because she has experienced completeness. and for her that is enough for her. he has brightened her world and she doesnt fear death because he has made her feel whole. i'm sorry if i havent justified myself clearly but sometimes i have fail expressing myself creatively. i feel so overwhelmed but what inspires me that its hard to put into words so others can get where i'm coming from.

i hope u lot see the meaning of those lines the way i do. please feel free to put in your view on it
for those who read this congratulations on surviving this post hope i didnt give u an eyesore.

Juicy Talks ~ Yummy But “Cancerous”

What’s up y’all? Before I start, let me just be clear to y’all that this message isn’t meant to hurt anyone in any sort of way. This is just me “squeezing out the juices” as told by Dr.Rai.. (^_^)

Well this is my first and will be the last time I’m voicing out my concern of certain E-lit student’s (regardless of senior or junior) behaviors’ towards each other in or out of the class. So since this will be my last time as well, I’m pleading everyone to think wisely and take my point positively. First of all I will start typing with a smile (as I come in peace) and will end up with a deep breath of relief. On top of that I think I am the first person who I may without any regrets say courageous enough to reveal the unspoken.

What encouraged me to do this is because of whatever that Dr.Rai have said today when she mentioned about people having problem expressing their thoughts or opinion-what so ever. Let me get to my point. I’m pretty sure you that y’all are very familiar with the term “perang dingin” right? Well that’s exactly what’s going on between certain E-Lit students. Due to all of the respect, I’m not mentioning names ‘cause I just want a positive change and a peaceful learning environment between all of us, not only for now but also for the future in our coming semesters.

Before I proceed, I would like to remind this once and for all that I have NO what so ever intention to start a conflict with anyone. Let me just stress out this expression of disappointment that has been eating me from the inside for quite some time. I can’t help myself from rapidly getting myself back to my room and switching on my lappy to “juice out” thoughts/feeling (whatever u wanna call it) since the meeting with Dr.Rai this morning. Perhaps this whole “risky” action of mine may lead myself to either good or bad consequences but that isn’t my concern here. All I want to do is to open up your minds and face the reality positively and wisely.

Besides, I am also doing this on behalf of those who had helplessly shed their tears due to the injustices. In my humble opinion, by having this kinda attitude, I think all of the Dr.Rai’s effort might just go waste without any positive results at the end of the day. I am aware that coming clean is the easiest way of getting yourselves out of trouble but everybody has different ways of concluding matters. Some people just love bad mouthing behinds their friends back whereas some just listen to the hot-sizzling topic and pours more “kerosene into the flame”. Whereas some people just hear and acts cool about it (self-denial).

Lately, I have been hearing a lot of smack talks and I was shocked of how someone so sweet like her/him could be having that sort of mentality when we are all at the same University level. Goodness gracious.. Looks can be truly deceiving huh? What is all the drama about? Bare in our minds that we are all here for a reason and the reason is to be a distinctive graduate. Some people just don’t choose to grow up and prefer sticking to their high school lifestyles. C’mon guys! This isn’t the way things should be right?? Trust me when I say with this attitude of yours, you will go nowhere. Nevertheless, I come to the sense that we are judgmental but if you seriously deepen your thoughts and think critically about it, we have no rights to do so. I mean, who are we to actually ruin someone’s name/reputation/image or friendship just for our own self-interest??

I am pretty “astonished” on how one could look for another person’s flaw without considering about their feelings or at least getting to know their problems first. They just keep Talkin', talkin', talkin' talk, Baby let's just knock it off, They don't know what we been through, They don't know 'bout me and you, So I got somethin' new to see, And you just gon' keep hatin' me, And we just gon' be enemies*one of my Kanye West’s silly influence..OMG..LOL!* Oopsiee.. sowwie! I totally got out of topic right..??

;p Well I actually did that on purpose so that you guys wouldn’t be so pressured about this matter. YEAH? (^_^)

Anyway, To Whom It May Concern, please quit doing it. It is a great pity to Dr.Raihanah who’s trying her best of bringing all of us together as a team but what we do is just take her efforts for granted. I have the upmost respect towards her and I truly admire her enthusiasm. Honestly, she is the first lecturer who touched my heart with her sincere advices regardless of the times when she sounded preeeeeeetty pist and annoyed. *LOL!* :p The genuineness of her full dedication towards her work and her deep concern about us is very much reflected and appreciated.

Thank you Dr.Rai, for all of your time and hard work that you’ve put into us.

& yeah!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! May GOD shower you with HIS blessings!

P.S: Always persevere in life! Start thinking out of the box..No matter what stay positive all right??

& Best of luck for FINALS guys!!

*sighs deeply* (^_^)

"Talenttime" by Yasmin Ahmad

Hi all... I got something to share here.... I just watched Yasmin Ahmad"s "Talenttime" and it was really a good movie.. The movie have many moral value and one of it is racism. In my opinion, racism should be "vanished" in Malaysia since we are living in a multi-races country. I think everyone also hope the history won't repeat again (13Mei1969)... Racism is so yesterday. I just hope all of you can watch the movie.. it's really meaningful and touching... =D
